Feeling Veri Peri: Styling the Pantone Color of the Year

Every year, Pantone releases its highly anticipated “color of the year” – sending scrapbookers and interior designers alike straight to their mood boards, brainstorming the different ways they can incorporate this happy hue into their work. From kitchens and bedrooms to elevated powder rooms, here are a few tricks of the trade on incorporating Periwinkle into your home:

Why Periwinkle?

Encompassing the qualities of blues, while also possessing a violet-red undertone, “Veri Peri” leaves us feeling lively and playful – but believe us when we say it goes a lot deeper than that. Hand-selected to reflect what’s taking place in our global culture, this color represents a defining spirit of the dynamic, pandemic world we live in. Veri Peri was chosen to help us embrace an altered landscape of possibilities, rewriting an optimistic perspective for our lives moving into 2022.

Styling It in Your Space

Accents

When it comes to inherently bold colors, a little can go a long way. If your space is accustomed to neutral colors, subtly introduce Periwinkle as a decorative accent to avoid a visually overwhelming aesthetic. For example, start by adding velvet or satin Periwinkle pillows to a bed or couch area. Or, place a couple of Periwinkle candles on a dining room table to add a simple touch of color.

Paint

Again and again, we’re reminded that there’s no better way to breathe life into your space than playing with color. A Periwinkle accent wall can draw out natural light and evoke feelings of calmness, combining to a fresh, effortless interior. Not ready to make the move with your living room? Instead, try stepping out of your comfort zone by painting the walls of your powder room.

Pairing with Natural Hues

Frequent to flower gardens, it’s no surprise that Periwinkle seamlessly pairs with natural colors you’d find outside. Explore palettes of browns, greens, and blues to draw out the organic, textural finishes of your space. For those looking to keep Periwinkle from looking too sweet, look towards deeper shades of grey for a surprisingly dramatic harmony to elevate your space.
