As the Santa Barbara sun stretches its rays a little longer each day, the whispers of spring begin to weave their way through the air. It’s a time of natural renewal, where the landscape throws off its winter cloak and bursts forth with vibrant life. And just like the changing seasons, so too does our own sense of home and self crave a similar kind of renewal.
Spring cleaning isn’t just about dust bunnies and forgotten trinkets under the couch. It’s a symbolic shedding of the old, a chance to clear the debris that can accumulate in our lives – physical, emotional, and mental.
Sometimes, it’s about giving something we love a little TLC, a fresh coat of paint or a new perspective. Other times, it’s about letting go of those cumbersome pieces that no longer serve us, the ones that create more clutter than comfort.
By taking the time to “clean house,” both literally and figuratively, we create the space for new beginnings, for the things that truly bring us joy and a sense of belonging. Let’s embrace the whispers of spring, and together, create homes that reflect the vibrant spirit of the season and the grounded tranquility that lies at the heart of Santa Barbara living.
Romanticism
It’s her moment. Cue the pinks, reds, laces, and dashes of bold femininity, because romanticism is making her comeback. With it, we are seeing maximalist florals take center stage, blooming across textiles like pillows, bedding, and rugs with warmer and “juicy” colors bringing life and warmth to every space.
Bloom – The Paper Kites
“In the morning when I wake
And the sun is coming through
Oh, you fill my lungs with sweetness
And you fill my head with you
Shall I write it in a letter?
Shall I try to get it down?
Oh, you fill my head with pieces
Of a song I can’t get out”
This is a classic moving from winter to spring song and perfectly ties into my little excerpt above.
A lil’ Glam
The trend in lighting is shifting from cozy, handmade styles towards a touch of old-world glamour. Think crystal chandeliers and Murano glass paired with more casual elements like a linen sofa and neutral prints.
