Our homes are more than just shelter; they’re a reflection of ourselves, a canvas for our stories, and a haven for our well-being. Just like the way the California coastline shifts from rugged cliffs to calming coves, the environment we create indoors has a profound impact on our emotional landscape.
Imagine a space shrouded in dim light, overflowing with forgotten belongings. The visual clutter translates into a mental clutter, leaving us feeling uneasy and tense. It’s a space that bombards our senses rather than soothes them. Conversely, picture a sun-drenched room, bathed in a warm glow. The air is clear, and carefully curated objects tell stories and evoke cherished memories. This is a sanctuary, a place that allows us to breathe deeply and unwind.
The truth is, our surroundings are a powerful language. A cluttered, dark space speaks in a frantic whisper, raising our stress levels and making it difficult to focus. A well-designed haven, on the other hand, speaks in calming tones, promoting relaxation, creativity, and a sense of belonging. It’s a space that allows us to truly be ourselves, to recharge and face the world with renewed energy.
So, as we navigate the hustle and bustle of life, let’s remember the power of creating a sanctuary within our own walls. By embracing the art of thoughtful design, we can cultivate a space that reflects our inner peace and allows us to truly flourish.
Biophilic Design
Recently I’ve been loving all things Biophilic design. Pulling on natural shapes and textures, it focuses on the art of bringing the outside in – teaching us about the powerful healing and unity that the natural world can do for our minds and wellbeing. If our homes are truly to be a sanctuary perhaps we have to go back to our roots a little.
Home Office
With WFH becoming the new norm, we are seeing the prioritization of permanent office spaces, so no more of that working from the kitchen table nonsense. It’s all about ergonomic furniture, sound proofing, and a space that is ultra functional and well-designed.
